2023S, wissenschaftliches Seminar (SEW), 2.0 ECTS, 2.0 SemStd., LV-Nr. S03921

Beschreibung

ABOUT: Applied Design Concepts is conducted by Sophie C. Grell and Jose Carlos Lopez Cervantes

Applied Design Concepts is an advanced architectural design seminar which examines the connection between conceptual understanding of design and form generation. Students will revisit formal outputs derived from relevant conceptual approaches within the discipline of architecture.

Essential knowledge will be acquired by modeling. First by looking and replicating canonical projects and understanding their conceptual approach and later through small tasks of ideation, design and development carried out during class time. In order to apply this methodology the students will be instructed in a specific software, Autodesk Maya. Students will be immersed in 6 different topics. Every topic will last two weeks. They will be instructed in theory and simultaneously they will be equipped with techniques of design and representation.

Due to the current circumstances this seminar will might turn into distance learning system. The content of it will not change from what was originally programmed, but the classes will be adapted to ensure a high quality education adapted to this new format. Therefore the initial condensed block format will change to a greater number but shorter online classes with the equivalent amount of time.

if necsessary it will be taught using the following platforms:

ZOOM: During your schedule time we will connect via ZOOM and have an online class.

GOOGLE DRIVE: Deliveries will be formalized through this platform. You will receive an invitation to a shared folder for this course. In that folder you will also find several subfolders with content, support material, and tutorials.
