Methods for the analyses of objects (metal, glass, ceramics) will be explained with practical examples - UV induced fluorescence, XRF (X- Ray fluorescence spectroscopy), FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy), SEM-EDS (Scanning Electron Microscopy/Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy).
Microchemical spot tests will be performed on metals.
The students will learn how to define the analytical questions that need to be answered for the development of a conservation strategy, and how to plan an investigation campaign.
