TAMALE TERRITORIES DESIGN to TAMALE TERRITORIES MATTER

Since 2020, [A]FA has been focusing on Tamale´s inner-urban peripheries as a long-term engagement with the city. Currently in its third phase, the project is focusing on the Tamale Old Airfield. The project team is in the process of drafting proposals for a soft transformation of the massive site into a recreational space, commissioned by the traditional chiefs and the local government. Participants from Vienna and all over Ghana have been working on the planning scale and are jointly conceptualizing, designing and 1:1 testing spatial interventions that highlight and spatially translate the already existing characteristics and future potential of the Tamale Old Airfield.

Working towards the implementation of the first project phase, the Tamale Territories Matter lab brings together matter and landscaping design in depth, with the aim of continuing to create environments for human and non-human co-existence from the micro to the macro scale.

An experimental lab will take place in Sept 2023 at I oA Vienna, and will continue in Feb 2024 onsite.

To APPLY as a participant, please submit your portfolio!
