The content of the course can be summarized in the following points: basics of sampling paint layer samples, sample processing for further analysis, preparation of crossed-sections, microscopic examination of cross-sections (paint layer structure), theoretical basic knowledge of spot tests for identification of natural binding media, demonstration and practice of individual spot tests and histochemical identification of natural binding media.

The carrying out practical experiments (results achieved, independent work...) and the written protocol will be evaluated.

The course can be attended only after completing the lectures "Farbenchemie" and „Binde- und Klebemittel in der Restaurierung - Natürliche Bindemittel“

The maximum number of students is 7.

The course will take place in the lecture hall and laboratory at Salzgries 14 / 1st floor and will be held in English.
