In this lecture students will learn how to sew  stays or a corsett

You will develop an understanding how to create a garment which is able to form the body by combining various layers and by adding bonings.

You will learn  techniques which have been used sinse the 19th century for this kind of garment

It´s possible to either sew stays which are made of many layers of fabric or a corsett, which corresponds to one of the time between 1850-1890. The cut is predetermined.

Personal presence is precondition for  a positive certificate.  An excuse  via e-Mail is required if you can not take part.

Exercises and homework have to be delivered by the agreed date.

 A portfolio with  pictorial documentation and a transcript has to be submitted at the end of the term

The number of participants is limited to 12 persons

Ask for a preliminary talk after intividual consultation to tell what type of corset should be sewn so that the neccessary materials can be obtained. The  preliminary talk must take place before the 17th of February.
