The course focuses mainly on relatively simple pigment detection methods, which can be carried out with simple instrumental equipment. The content of the course can be summarized in the following points: overview of the most commonly used methods for the identification of pigments, basics of pigment identification using transmitted light microscopy, preparation of slides (powder preparations), theoretical basics of the microchemical identification methods of pigments (spot tests), as well as demonstration and practising of selected spot tests for historical pigments.
The carrying out practical experiments (results achieved, independent work...) and the written protocol will be evaluated.
The course can be attended only after completing the lecture "Farbenchemie" and the Seminar "Grundlagen der Pigment- und Bindemittelbestimmung".
The course will be held in English.
The maximum number of students is 7.
The course will take place in the lecture hall and laboratory at Salzgries 14 / 1st floor.
