Description

Urban design and energy

In the face of global warming and the recent energy crisis solutions have to be found quickly that enable us to reduce the impact of human life on the planetary resources. Urbanisation is one key element, but cities require new measures to improve their ecological impact and remain a livable place. We will discuss inhowfar these two challenges can only be met if addressed conjointly. The class will consist of two main parts: In the first part we will establish the theoretical basis, and in the second half students will work on specific questions employing the theory to practical questions. They will interact with specialists from relevant fields and thus acquire hands on experience in tackling complex challenges.

Examination Modalities

Presence is required.

Evaluation will be based on the practical contribution and on an oral exam at the end of term.
