In the course of the seminar, a part of the collection of the Traiskirchen City Museum will be processed (https://www.museum-traiskirchen.at/).

The museum is located in the former Möllersdorf worsted yarn factory, where fine yarns were produced from 1824 to 1975. The collection focuses on the topics of town history, industry, everyday life and trade, traffic and mobility, changing technology, the fire brigade and playtime. The range of objects is correspondingly diverse: From gendarmerie caps and Baden railway carriages to Matador toys and car tyres from the Semperit factory.

Over the past two years, the Depot Offensive Niederösterreich has made it possible to set up a new depot for a part of the collection. Two historic rooms were renovated and furnished in cooperation with the Institute of Conservation. A total of around 600 objects from the collection will be housed there, including paintings, textiles and a large stock of objects made of metal, wood, plastic and other materials.

During the seminar, a condition survey and photographic documentation of the collection will be carried out. The objects will then be cleaned and secured. These will then be moved to the new depot and located there. In order to ensure proper storage, underlays for the shelves as well as supports and dust protection for the objects will be prepared.

The practical work on site is intended to teach conservation skills in the surveying, care and storage of collections.

Attendance and participation during the seminar are graded.
