Weaving Techniques / Braided Objects 

The basket weaver Luc Bouriel will be a guest at the Tranmedia Arts depatment and will teach the participants the "bell weave", the burkina technique, the "panier Perigourdain" and the "frame basket technique". These techniques are particularly well suited for making objects and sculptures. Initially, small objects will be made together to try out materials and techniques. 

As the class progresses, students will be able to develop their own ideas for sculptures, installations, and objects and experimentally expand on what they have learned. Luc will help to realize the individual ideas. Weaving will be done with peeled and unpeeled willow rods. There are many other materials suitable for weaving - rattan, cane, paper tubes, thick ropes or soft plastic tubes,...

Accompanying this, we will reflect in the group on how the objects relate to space, how they can be shown, expanded, and staged, and how three-dimensional formations themselves create space.

max 8 participants, Students of Transmedia Art have priority for registration.
(For participants from other classes there is a contribution towards costs (material costs).
