2022W, künstlerisches Seminar (SEK), 1.0 ECTS, 1.0 SemStd., LV-Nr. S02711
Great ideas need great visual communication
The aim of this seminar is to give its participants a brief introduction into the field of visual communication and to gain essential understanding and skills to successfully present ideas through visual language. Participants new to this seminar will be required to give a short overview on themselves, their interests and their body of work. After taking a look at the history of graphic design we will examine the pillars of visual communication: form & function, semiotics & semantics, space & whitespace, order & chaos, typography & typedesign, grid systems, rhythm, shapes, color, aesthetics, the vernacular (high art VS low art), ethics and other supporting fields. We will also look at the importance of asking the right questions in a design brief, experiment with the power of setting limitations throughout a project and will use both analogue and digital approaches to solve a design brief. Technical requirements for professional screen- and print production will be explored.
