2019W
Andrea Börner
Architecture, Urban Strategies
2022W, scientific seminar (SEW), 3.0 ECTS, 2.0 semester hours, course number S02700
FAR-FETCHED
Every spatial manipulation of a given environment triggers changes of an existing, complex system of mutual dependencies. As the natural and the built environment is constituted by manifold reciprocal relationships between material and immaterial conditions, the particular temporal, geographical and socio-political situation make up the specific framework for adopting change. Accordingly, the course puts emphasis on shifting from a static understanding to a dynamic view over processes in time.
By means of selected examples, common paradigms of urban and spatial organizational principles are critically reflected in order to reassess their relevance with regard to current european dynamics. In 10 scale-jumps we speculate on past-future scenarios of a productive urban landscape.
Continuous assessment through frequent and active participation.
Presentation, investigation of a sub-topic.
Seminar-work: documented visual/textual elaboration with negotiable focus, related to individual interest and the subject of the course.
Priority is given to students of architecture who did not yet participate in the course and are in their higher semesters from their 2nd year on. Ranking is made by time of registration and semester level. Others are very welcome as long as there are places (max 20 participants).
Note: Online registration until 30 Sept is mandatory for participation. With online enrollment it is agreed that the list of accepted participants (+ pot. waiting list) is accordingly provided to all registered students latest by Oct 3rd.
To sort out things as early as possbile: please those who plan to take this class but have a potential schedule conflict on Oct 11th with structural design workshop, send me an e-mail.
In order to avoid administrative detours and blocking of places, please only register if you really intend to take the class, and please de-register timley in case you decided otherwise.
