TAMALE TERRITORIES - DESIGN

In its third phase, from September 2022 onward, TAMALE TERRITORIES will be focusing on another "inner-urban periphery" of Tamale, full of potential: the Old Airfield. Based on previous applied research of another inner-urban periphery – the Tamale Waterworks and Forest Reserve, and “Fictions on Aqua, Plants and Plastic” – we will be starting a design process for a soft transformation of the Tamale Old Airfield into a recreational open space, commissioned by the Old Airfield neighborhood community. International students of architecture and art, architects and artists from Vienna and all over Ghana will jointly conceptualize, design and test spatial interventions that highlight and spatially translate the already existing characteristics of this very special open place, as well as its potentials.
