3D Modelling - SolidWorks

Peter Knobloch
Design, Computer Studio
2022W, Vorlesung und Übungen (VU), 2.0 ECTS, 2.0 semester hours, course number S00252

Description

The objective of the lecture is to impart & develop fundamental theories, principles and approaches for the design of parts and assemblies with SolidWorks.

By the means of examples and practical exercises the following topics will by gradually developed:

  • Which program for which purpose? (Cinema 4D, Maya, SolidWorks, Rhino)
  • Basics and user interface
  • Stepwise creation of a part
  • Importing hand drawings & images as template
  • Ruled- & free-form surfaces
  • Joining parts in an assembly
  • Controlling dimensions with variables
  • Creating multiple variants of a part
  • Stress- & motion simulations
  • CSWA exam preparation

Every student will be provided with a until 31.7.2023 valid SolidWorks Education Licence with the following components:

SOLIDWORKS Premium ◼︎ SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation ◼︎ SOLIDWORKS Simulation Premium ◼︎ Electronics Module for SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation ◼︎ HVAC Module for SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation ◼︎ SOLIDWORKS MBD Standard ◼︎ SOLIDWORKS Sustainability ◼︎ SOLIDWORKS Plastics Premium ◼︎ SOLIDWORKS Visualize Professional ◼︎ eDrawings Professional ◼︎ SOLIDWORKS Electrical Professional

Examination Modalities

For the successful completion of the course the following criteria will be used:

  • Constant and punctual participation (min. 70% attendance, 50% of the grade)
  • Partaking in the (otherwise 104,40 costing) Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) exercise (50%  of the grade)
