2022S, wissenschaftliches Seminar (SEW), 3.0 ECTS, 2.0 SemStd., LV-Nr. S03525
In cooperation with the seminar "Digital Making - Exploring" LV-Nr. S03529 (Daniela Kröhnert), this Seminar addresses issues of sustainable building with a focus on concepts of circular economy / circular design.
The demand for reuse, and adaptability can also be understood as an advantage and potential for design experimentation.
This semester will address modular building systems with a focus on joining principles and materialization.
Based on concepts that were developed in the Circular Strategies Seminar last semester, students will start with a given set of "building blocks".
The combined course is organized following two main directives, starting with an emphasis on physical prototyping, the work will shift towards architectural speculations.
All students will start from the same given scheme, but the aim is to develop distinct individual concepts in the course of this seminar.
Participants are asked to work on studies independently or in teams of two.
Weekly meetings for feedback, input lectures, and tutorials.
Students will first develop modular systems with mechanical joints, based on physical (and digital) study models.
In a second step, these systems are then translated into architectural contexts conceptually (scale, function, material).
NOTE: The seminar will end with the submission and final presentation already on 31.5.
Students who want to take part in this course need to sign up for "Digital Making - Exploring" LV-Nr. S03529 (Daniela Kröhnert) as well and will receive both credits after a successful term.
Profound knowledge of Rhinoceros 3D is required.
Participants are kindly asked to use their own computers and software.
Max. 20 participants (individual work is encouraged, but teamwork is possible if preferred, priority is given to students of architecture, who did not yet participate in the course. )
