2021W, Vorlesung und Übungen (VU), 1.0 ECTS, 1.0 semester hours, course number S51224

Description

This research lab explores choreography and instruction based art through play and game mechanics. The lab provides a framework for constructing score-based performances and in a second step, invites to bend and suspend rules; to playfully redesign systems borrowed from everyday life or existing games. We will look at things like flow, contingency, participation, agency, reality glitch and game-time and see how this can be linked to own pedagogical practice. Choreographic Clues reflects the political potential of scores and game structures to reshape and practice other realities.

The "Experimentierlabor: WITHDRAWING THE PERFORMER - Choreographic Clues" is offered together with "Experimentierlabor: WITHDRAWING THE PERFORMER - Performances for the Mind" by Jasmin Schaitl. Students can, but do not have to, attend both courses. Both courses will be realised by the course leaders in collaboration.

Based on the research of the project leaders of the INTRA project WITHDRAWING THE PERFORMER (2021-2022), students will have the opportunity to experience performances with a participatory character and to expand/create themselves.

Goals

The students are invited to bring in their own interests with the aim of initiating play/game-scores that can continue to develop after the days spent together.

In the lab, students receive a theoretical as well as very well-founded, practical insight into participatory performative practices. Interactive experiments, are actively experienced, reflected upon and expanded by the students.
