This course will provide an introduction and overview into biology. Starting with general questions, such as what is a structure? what is a cell?, students will understand fundamental and basic principles underpinning molecular life. We will then discuss current gene technology strategies, explaining fundamental experimental and computational approaches. Furthermore, fields related to health and disease will be explored, including cell therapy, personalized medicine and RNA and DNA vaccines. The main focus of this course is on molecular biology; however, connections with other fields will also be examined under the awareness of biomolecular strategies.

The grade will depend the contributions to the discussions and exercises during the semester (60%) and the result of the written exam (40%).

Students from other faculties or universities will be given a place on the course, subject to room capacities.
