Basics for the determination of the most common gemstones and precious stones (theory and practice) 

Introduction to gemmology I (definitions: natural stones, syntheses, treatment methods, historic important gems)

Introduction to gemmology II (non-destructive determination methods: 10x loupe, various filters, UV lamp, density, light refraction, ...)

Introduction to gemmology III (occurrence and properties: causes of color, hardness, inclusions,...)


Examination Modalities

Written test with questions on theory + 2 stone determinations


Bringing a 10x loupe or magnifying glasses, is recommended but not required.
