Ringvorlesung Transcultural Studies

Viktoria Luisa Metschl
Art Sciences and Art Education, Transcultural Studies
2021W, Ringvorlesung mit Workshop (RVW), 1.0 ECTS, 1.0 semester hours, course number S03880

Description

The second part of the lecture series (including one workshop) continues to discuss various approaches and critique within the field of Transcultural Studies. It aims to pursue and deepen the four intertwined thematic strands of ecologies, economies, histories of European imperialism and colonialism, as well as practices of critique and resistance in image, sound, text, and translation processes which had been introduced in the spring term.

Guest lectures will also focus on bringing together seemingly disparate disciplines and cultures of knowing and learning. Topics include ecology and emancipatory pedagogy, environmental history and fascism, sound (production) and postcolonial theory, and critical infrastructure studies.

Examination Modalities

Continuous attendance at both lectures and workshops is required to complete the course. Participants may be absent without excuse from one of the appointments. For all subsequent absences a justification is required.

Please note: This lecture series is identical with the one offered by Nanna Heidenreich under the same title (LV-Nr. S03737). The course will be co-taught by Nanna Heidenreich and Viktoria Luisa Metschl. Full attendance (including exam) is equivalent to 2 ECTS.

Comments

Lectures will be held in English or German. Workshops will be held in German, but are open to English-speaking students (with listening comprehension in German): translation is also a collective practice of generous listening. Final exams can be taken in either English or German.

Attendance at individual lectures is possible and the guest lectures are open to the public. For participants requiring ECTS, full attendance is required.
