Beschreibung

The course consists of 4 modules: (i) New Ways of Working, (ii) Impact of innovation, (iii) Human-robot collaboration, and (iv) AI and work. In the block New Ways of Working we discuss how information and communication technology (ICT) have changed the organization of work in numerous industries. Changed working modes on the individual workers' level are defined as new ways of working (NWW). NWW generally encompass the following three components: working flexibly in terms of time and location as well as using information and communication technologies. The block Impact of innovation addresses the societal and economic positive and negative impacts of technological innovations as well as the scientific models used to describe and manage them in theory and exemplified with specific cases. The block Human–Robot Collaboration focuses on the creation, maintenance and reestablishment of trust in collaborative work scenarios between humans and robots. We will look at some paradigmatic examples of robotization (and mechanization) which showcase the challenges that increasingly arise when humans and robots are collaborating. Finally, the block AI and work block focuses on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on work and work organization. In the first part, we discuss how AI technologies can be implemented in human resource management (HRM) processes. We will analyze, e.g. how predictive tools are used across the hiring funnel, how it can be used to predict, monitor and control work performance of employees and how the technology may be exploited to monitor health indicators of employees.

The course will be taught as distance teaching course via TUWEL (TU Lernplattform) including online sessions (webinars via zoom) and take-home assignments, readings, paper-discussions etc.
