Supervision of PhD students whose area of research revolves primarily around architectural innovation and the future of cities. Encouraged to apply are architecture graduates or practicing architects and scholars that aim to pursue in-depth research on pertinent issues relevant to the present and future realities of cities enhanced by cutting-edge technology. 

Such topics are reflected in the department’s pedagogical focus and include e-transportation and mobility infrastructure, urban farming and food manufacturing integration, artisanal enclaves and urban rejuvenation, healthcare driven urbanism and the design of state-of-the-art hospitals, sustainable and renewable energy in the creation and modification of cities, data mining and smart city planning, prefabrication and housing.
