Art Sciences and Art Education, Art and Communication Practices
2021S, artistic Seminar (SEK), 2.0 ECTS, 2.0 semester hours, course number S03636
What is an artistic intervention? What does "participation" mean? What does context mean? How do artistic practices that critically engage in societal issues relate to "artistic autonomy"? What conditions determine these projects and how can they intervene in societal processes?
This introductory event will present relevant examples of art projects and artistic practices since the 1970s and link them to selected texts of the art discourse. Interventionist and participatory practices have gained more and more importance. This makes it all the more important to acquire knowledge that is as differentiated here as in traditional realms of art (painting, sculpture).
In the workshop we will develop an artistic approach for a specific location in Vienna and realize small interventions for the specific context.
1 Introductory Seminar: regular attendance and active participation in the discussions is the prerequisite for the final discussion, for which the students will research and present a project.
2 Workshop: The participation in the workshop is mandatory: Here we will explore various artistic methods and realize a small (urban) intervention.
