Beschreibung

Based on Platform Economics 1 in the winter semester 2020/201, in the summer term this course will cover the most important elements of platforms in detail (data, ads, algorithms), as well es engage with possible futures and alternatives of different platform models (decentralized social media, regulation of platforms, public and co-op based models).

Prüfungsmodalitäten

Participation in 80% of the sessions is mandatory. You are expected to arrive prepared by having completed the assigned reading for the week. Grades are based on active participation in class discussion (20%), regular group assignments (30%), as well as a seminar paper that elaborates on one of the themes of this course (50%). Students have the option to write the seminar paper on a topic that is both based on this course, as well as relevant for their CDC Lab project.
