2021S, Vorlesung und Übungen (VU), 2.0 ECTS, 2.0 semester hours, course number S03577
Artists and designers rely primarily on copyright as means to protect their intellectual property (IP). However, there are further IP rights such as registered designs, trademarks and patents. Not only participants of industrial design but also creative people in general regularly use these rights although to have them, they have to be applied for before an office, they may be attacked by third parties and they are expensive. On the other side, projects and art sessions may infringe other peoples IP rights. The seminar shall give an overview on registered designs, trademarks and patents in order to gain an ability to estimate whether someone’s ideas are worth/require protection and whether a project may collide with IP rights of others. Moreover, the seminar gives basic abilities to do a search of patents, designs and trademarks for evaluating purposes.
The seminar closes with an examination talk for each student in order to achieve a successful participation.
The seminar takes place every Wednesday, 4.15 to 6.00 pm, starting from March 3, 2021. An application (simple, via email) is required. Due to the Covid-19-Situation we most likely start via Zoom conference. The invitation follows via email.
Even if no successful and/or official paticipation is intended - everyone is wellcome!
