In this course we will explore the conditions, the do’s, don’ts and doings of qualitative research. At first the basics and framework of qualitative methodologies are in the center. Then methods like interviews, groupdiscussions or observation - as some others - will be discussed. The last part concludes the lecture with an emphasis on analysis. Different approaches will be introduces and their implementation reflected.

During the course practice and interaction is in the focus. Qualitative research focuses on discourse, so will the course. So students are welcome to bring their questions and research interests with them.

- Contribution to the discussions

- No absence without prior excuse, 80 %  attendance

- tasks and practices related to the contents of the lecture

- outline/paper about an individual research question and planned design at the end of the semester. discussion will take place at the last meeting

Students from other faculties or universities will receive a place on the course subject to room capacities.
