2020W, Vorlesung und Übungen (VU), 3.0 ECTS, 2.0 SemStd., LV-Nr. S03645

Beschreibung

Artistic Strategies involve a wide range of practices, media, and fields of knowledge that combine in the making of many contemporary art works.

The purpose of this course is not to reach a comprehensive and final definition of Artistic Strategies, but rather to understand that Artistic Strategies are essentially and specifically shaped by artists as a response to and as an acknowledgment of the complex contexts in which artworks are produced and with which they aim to engage.

Rather than a programmatic conception of art and its making, the course will investigate the complex dynamics at stake in the production of artistic strategies: artistic eco-system, historical, cultural, social and political contexts.

Such investigation involving an interdisciplinary and transversal approach will help us to better understand that it is finally the art projects that generate their own working methods and strategies.

The course will be articulated through examination of case studies selected for their strong commitment to questions of contexts, communities, as well as their interdisciplinary approaches.
