Intro:

In order to introduce students to project development and BIM, the seminar will take a closer look at a project currently under development at Pichler und Traupmann Architekten. The seminar will highlight selected points along the way, from a winning competition entry to construction, and put them in the context of BIM (Revit).

The seminar will give a design oriented take on BIM/Revit.

Course Structure:

The seminars will be structured in three parts:

-  The first part will be a short lecture giving insights into the development of a project by Pichler and Traupmann Architekten. The focus and difficulties specific for each planning phase will be pointed out. Communication with special planners and integration of their expertise will be explained (i.e. structural and MEP engineering, lighting design).

-  During the second part, all aspects will be put in the context of BIM. Designing methods, work flows, calculation and evaluation tools will be shown.

-  The third part of the seminar will give all students time to apply the acquired knowledge on their individual designs right away. Support will be given when necessary.

Evaluation:

Each student is asked to develop a small scale project. Every planning phase discussed in the seminar will be followed by a submission. Submitted material as well as commitment during the seminar will be considered for grading.

Additional Information:

No prior knowledge of Revit is needed to attend the seminar. The course will start from scratch and by the end of the semester students will be able to develop a project in Revit on their own.
