2020W, Vorlesung und Übungen (VU), 2.0 ECTS, 2.0 semester hours, course number S03145

Description

Form follows Media follows Society follows Form / In order for people to get an idea of the world in which they develop, they are increasingly dependent on media representations. Therefore we examine the relationship between technical, formal and social developments. In current discourses, technological »progress« often appears as the starting point for changes. How technologies are used is not the responsibility of those who develop them. But who defines in what form those areas of action that determine our lives? What role do information flows and their perceptible concrete form play? Is design increasingly restricted to the development of services? Who designs the images that shape our imaginations? What scope of design can be used to live a self-determined life?

Examination Modalities

Using a concrete example, you will develop a representation of mutual dependencies between form / media / society. The form of the presentation can be chosen freely. The results of the individual work will be presented by the students on June 8, 2020 as part of the lesson.
