Beschreibung

In the Extracurricular Tendencies course we will look at the working methods of a particular artist in each unit. Since it is unfortunately not possible at the moment to physically encounter works of art and exhibitions, I show you films/videoworks and I provide you with texts by and about artists to get an impression of the respective practice.
The aim is to capture working methods through a material exercise, as well as the reflection of one's own point of view and the relation to one's own work/project. Practical exercises are adapted to the current situation and task definitions are communicated by e-mail.
All materials are online in the base Extracurricular Tendencies folder (regularly updated).
The content of the course will be expanded after each online meeting via zoom in view of the general circumstances, exchange, discussion and input from the participants.

Previous content:

1. John Akomfrah The Stuart Hall Project, artist's statement by John Akomfrah, texts about his work by Mark Fisher and Ashley Clark, an interview with Georgia Korossi and a recording of a conversation between John Akomfrah and Osei Bonsu

2. Eileen Myles The Trip, INFERNO (a poet's novel), Interview A Poem Says 'I Want', Eileen Myles responds to Zoe Leonhard's "I want a president" (1992), Website of Eileen Myles
