Beschreibung

How do cellular systems grow? How does tissue renew itself? Which biological processes are thereby controlled within and between cells? And what methods can we use to measure and understand the underlying mechanisms? Artificial intelligence technologies such as deep neural networks and mechanistic mathematical models are more and more used for the analysis and interpretation of biomedical data. In this block course we will discuss concepts of stem cell biology, read and present scientific papers, and get to know and analyze computational methods for biomedical data analysis.

Given the current situation, we will most probably meet in front of a screen ;-). To make the these three days as useful, productive, and entertaining as possible, we will meet briefly altogether every morning in ZOOM (or an alternative) to discuss the day's schedule, then split up into small working groups, and later meet again to present results.

End of May I will provide some reading to familiarize with the topics.

Prüfungsmodalitäten

The students will be evaluated on the basis of their contributions to the discussions in the course and the quality of their presentation.
