2020S, Vorlesung und Übungen (VU), 2.0 ECTS, 2.0 SemStd., LV-Nr. S03298

Beschreibung

In the course, students will be taught how empirical studies can be understood, discussed and criticized. In addition, students will be introduced to the basics of descriptive and inferential statistics by implementing and evaluating their own empirical study. For this purpose, students will do the data collection (by using self completion-questionnaires), the preparation of a data-mask and the data entry (by using the statistic software SPSS). Afterwards, the data will be analysed and interpreted. Therefore, the content of the summer semester will be:

- Data collection, data mask, data entry

- Electronically supported data analysis (important statistical characteristics and representation forms, filter setting, classification, recoding of variables, correlation and reliability analysis, indexing, diversity tests, etc.)

- Interpretation of data

Prüfungsmodalitäten

The examination modalities were adjusted to the current circumstances.

For the successful participation of the course, the following criteria must be fulfilled:

- Regular attendance (at least 80%) - the regular meetings take place online via Zoom; you find the link and the time schedule for the meetings online in the meeting-related cloud folder. Since you prepare the content of the meetings in advace, the Zoom-meetings will be used for the groups to continue with their group project and to clarify open questions / questions concerning the group work. Therefore, each Zoom meeting will only be 45 minutes.

- Reading + Exercises - you have to prepare every meeting in advance with texts, Power-Point presenations and/or exercises. The literature and the exercises are in the meeting-related cloud folder.

- Presentation of research project - your final research presentation will take place on the already fixed date via Zoom. In addition, you submit a handout about your project on the day of your presentation. Your grade consists of your regular attendance and the project presentation + handout
