Working with electronics, part 1: ALL OF THE LEDs

Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) are to be found in a lot of places these days: in household appliances, in discos, under cars and even in shoes.
And for a reason: They are compact, cheap, use very little power, come in various shapes and can emit all the colours of the rainbow.

To use LEDs in the context of media art, basic understanding of working with the Arduino platform & electronics in general is necessary.
Therefore this course will also teach how to use Arduino and electronics on the way.

What you will learn:

Arduino & electronics basics

How to use LEDs and LED Strips
How to power them correctly. How to control them via Arduino.
How to program rhythmic or organic patterns.
How to make them interactive by adding sensors and/or dials to your project.

We will also look at what role LEDs they play in the context of media art.
Can they be more than indicators, light sources or flashy decoration?
Which artworks or design objects actually exist that use LEDs excessively.
Will the next revolutionaries wear RGB-LEDs instead of orange scarfs or yellow vests?
