Description

ALL OF THE LEDs

Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) are to be found in a lot of places these days: in discos, under cars and even in shoes.
And for a reason: They are compact, cheap, use very little power, come in various shapes and can emit all the colors of the rainbow.

But what role can they play in the context of media art?
Can they be more than indicators, light sources or flashy decoration?
Which artworks or design objects actually exist that use LEDs excessively.
Will the next revolutionaries wear RGB-LEDs instead of orange scarfs or yellow vests?
These are some of the questions we will try to answer in this course.

But we will also look at how we can use LED technology.
How to control them via Arduino, DMX or Bluetooth/smartphone?
How to power them, program rhythmic or organic patterns, etc..

We will also have a look at:
• How to use LED-Strips
• And what are OLEDs and EL-Wires?

We will use Arduino-Boards to control LEDs.
Therefore this course will also teach you how to use Arduino and electronics.
