Fine Arts and Media Art, Transmedia Art
2019S, Seminar (SE), 2.0 semester hours, course number S02107
In this second part of the seminar we will elaborate practically on the topics of the previous semester. In small groups we’ll develop short, hands-on projects. The first weekend will be dedicated to shooting with natural daylight, in the second session we’ll focus on shooting at night, in low light situations.
Together we’ll select two interesting places in Vienna, think about the site-specific conditions and discuss ideas and given exercises. Students will pass through various stages during the process of developing their projects: articulating a concept, pre-production and practical strategies, team responsabilities and determinig equipment (camera, light, sound, etc.), shooting on location, followed by a collective analysis of each group’s footage. Additional steps of audio and video editing, color grading and finishing will be discussed, extra work is expected to be completed outside the shared class time. Team constellations and responsabilities change from the first weekend to the next.
Active participation and min. 75% attendance required, submission of the two short projects before the end of the semester.
Completion of the seminar Architektur des Lichtes I is required, exceptions may be granted for students with extensive experience in working with moving images artistically (upon consulation). The seminar will be held in German and English.
