Beschreibung

Next generation sequencing (NGS) has revolutionized genomic research. Today, using NGS an entire human genome can be sequenced within days with low costs.

The statistic and next generation sequencing course of Tanja Gesell and Elin Axelsson-Ekker will impart knowledge of statistical thinking, and fundamentals of data exploration and analysis. Additionally, students will learn the basics of a programming language relevant for statistics, the R language. R is one of the most widely used statistical languages in Data Science across a wide variety of disciplines.

After the first part of this course, students should have general statistical skills, which they can apply, in different fields. In the second part of the course, they will learn and apply special skills and programs that are necessary for their project work in which the students will get to process an authentic NGS-dataset. We will include the students in the analysis, based on their current knowledge, skills and preferences.
