This course provides a basic survey of methods and strategies for academic research and publishing across different disciplines. Students will have the opportunity to develop practical skills by testing the newly acquired methodological tools and concepts in classroom meetings. Field trips to relevant institutions will provide insight into hands-on critical engagement with artworks and media technologies on site.

Attendance is mandatory. Grades will be calculated according to: participation in class (especially in workshops/group assignments/field trips), written documentation of workshop/group assignment results, and one abstract (4000 characters incl max) proposing a research question related to content discussed over the course of the term, to be handed in in writing and briefly presented during the oral exam on January 30, 2019.
