The precise task will be sent to the registered students after kick-off.
Based on your design research, in the seminar, you will discuss how architecture can contribute solutions to achieve "Zero-Energy-Buildings".  Any idea goes: from passive strategies of how to re-use any amount of energy in a building to energy producing algae farms you can live in. Interactive strategies are as much welcome as precise optimization of intelligently populated building skins.

Examination Modalities

You can work in groups up to 3 students, so that you can share workload.

There are 4 obligatory meetings with Prof. Cody and Desk Crits in between.

By the end of the semester, you present a conceptual design that focuses on the energy questions. Besides a beamer presentation, a model will be required.


Research background is the EU´s ambitions to push the national states towards building codes that require so-called Nearly-Zero-Energy-Buildings.
