Description

In this class, we trace the path of the development of recording technologies to examine the emergence of photographic images: From the early days in science to the fields of journalism, fashion, and advertising.

Using selected examples the work methods of various photographers are explored and the theories of the different eras discussed. The student’s own critical viewpoint should be sharpened through independent research of more recent approaches to photography.

This class aims to provide a fundamental knowledge of photographic approaches, to connect the dots of the history of image production - photography and moving image.
