Description
In this lecture we will visit several museums and exhibitions to practice interpretation in front of the original painting.
We will focus on the description of the painting, discuss how paintings transmit their messages by visual means, study the historical context, develop theoretical approaches.
The lectures in the museums consist of oral presentations, discussions and a written Hausarbeit at the end of the semester.
We will choose museums and exhibitions from medieval and Renaissance to modern and contemporary art such as Kunsthistorisches Museum, Gemäldegalerie der Akademie, Dommuseum, Albertina, 21er Haus...
Examination Modalities
Active and regular participation, oral presentation and written Hausarbeit until february 14th
LANGUAGE:
Course language is German.
The participation in discussions, the oral presentation and the written text can be done in English. A basic knowledge of German is needed in order to follow the discussions of the course.

PLEASE REGISTER ON TIME FOR THE SUMMERSEMESTER. THERE WILL BE ANOTHER ÜBUNG.
The first meeting will be in the university, the following ones in the museum.
