Description

Objective of this seminar "Design & Innovation"  is to follow the research question ? How can digital revolution of our times be used for human beings as best as possible and how can we cope with predictable misdevelopments ? in close and interdisciplinary collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, Bratislava/ Institute for Design, Textil and visual Communication.

The seminar can be attended just in one semester, but is planned two semesters to organize the Biennale Vienna-Bratislava.

"Design & Innovation" (Funded Research Project Interreg EU: AT-SK) is a cross-border collaboration of Design-institutions, research and museum collaboration between Austria and Bratislava

Project partners: University of Applied Arts Vienna (Angewandte), MAK (Museum of Applied Arts Vienna), SCD (Slovakian Design Center, VŠVU (Academy of Fine Arts and Design, Bratislava/ Institute for Design, Textil and visual Communication)

Students will work in interdisciplinary teams with the method "social design thinking" and develop ´statements´regarding topics such as: Social Design & Materials, Consumer oriented perception of design, Digital Revolution: Cyberwar, Industry 4.0, Robotic, Changing Role of Designers; Right interfaces between men and machine (private life). Development of New Design strategies for dissemination, Collection of Best Practice Models of New Designstrategies, Design Role, Responsibility, Transdisciplinary Correlations, Copyright vs. Open Design, Design & New Materials & Technologies, Social Design Strategies etc. which will be exhibited in Vienna and Bratislava.

Students will work on the Development of a cross-border visitors program (& strong collaboration MAK.)

#Participation at the Vienna & Bratislava Biennale 2019 (Also Counter positions possible)

Teaching Lessons will take place in Vienna and Bratislava.

Travel costs will be overtaken by the research project.

Examination Modalities

Students will have to

-(reliable and permanent) participate at the collaborative Workshops days “Social Design Thinking” Bratislava/Vienna (financial costs will be overtaken by the project – MAK) as we work in teams.

- develop objects, interventions regarding the topic

-to talk with the supervisors wednesdays 11-12 am about their projects if needed and accorded

-take responsibility in exhibition design for exhibiting their interim results of findings (small exhibitions and at the Vienna & Bratislava Biennale 2019)

- will work on the Development of a cross-border visitors program (& strong collaboration MAK.)

-present their work, paricipate in exchange discussions with the teams (life & online)

-document their work carefully

-write a conference paper
