"WORDS. spoken and written"

The course will focus on the aesthetics of language, language in art, and the design of language media in art and culture.
Theoretical input on the entanglement of art, media, and language, will alternate with practical work in form of students' (group) projects.
It is planned for students to produce audio and video interviews with Vienna based artists about the latter's artistic strategies.
Furthermore we will visit artists' studios as well as art and cultural institutions in Vienna which have a focus on language in any form with their work (curatorial activities, graphic design, public communication, print publishing, music, etc.)

The course takes place in tight cooperation with the course of Herwig Turk.

• Attendance is mandatory at all lectures. Attendance will be registered on a sign-in sheet at the beginning of each class.
• Active participation during class and field trips
• Each participant has to produce an audio or video interview (either on own or in a group).

Students from other faculties or universities will be given a place on the course subject to room capacities.
