Beschreibung

In each of the semesters 2 to 7 a workshop regarding cross-disciplinary capabilities is to be completed. In this workshop students apply methods for creating interdisciplinary connections and explore potentials of interdisciplinary linkages. The experiences gained in these workshops are to be documented in the studies portfolio (programme-related reflection). They form the basis for the concluding bachelor thesis.

The CDC-workshop 2018 offers training, reflection and discussion of cross-disciplinary project work. Which focus, questions and methods are at stake in the various disciplines and what changes when we work across disciplines?

Focusing on specific topics of their choice drawn from the last and the current semester – e.g. scaling in various disciplines – students will proceed to a multidisciplinary approach in the course of the workshop. Topics may be chosen from any possible field of interest: e.g. translation, appropriation, visualization, heterogeneity, biofacts, publication or impact factors. In the introductory meeting we will discuss topics and methodological approaches and form teams. Reading lists and handouts will be available after the first meeting. A project proposal including project setup, project roles, methodology and tasks by each project team and in addition by each group member is due by April 30.

In the two days workshop we will discuss the project drafts and work on their realization with peer-feedback and coaching. A brief handout to prepare the discussion is due by May 24. At the end of the course the students will present their projects in a student symposium.

Excursions:

  • Bio-Cross: CDS students will meet students from the field of molecular biology at the Biocenter Vienna.
  • 20. April, 6pm, TQW Studios at MQ – Giulia Palladini (IT) The labor and leisure of foreplay: on pleasure, value and event in artistic production.
