a course on otherness

The course examines the construction of otherness.
As artistic work is often driven by curiosity for existences and phenomena which differ from our (personal) normative categories, the workshop draws awareness to the subject.
On each meeting we`ll discuss the term of otherness from a different perspective.
We`ll invite guests to talk about the topic from their scientific background:
e.g. sociology, zoology, fashion, art, identity politics, technology, SF.

In order to get marks you either write a short essay on the topic or give a short presentation on a text or a term which will be discussed within the course.

the first meeting takes place on Thursday the 15th of March at 9:45 a.m.
we´ll meet at Paulusplatz 5 , 1030 Vienna, 2. Floor
(department of sculpture and space/ site-specific art)
in order to participate it is mandatory to join the first meeting since you are abel to choose a text or a topic for your short presentation.
at that date we`ll give an introduction and an outlook on the program.
