Mixing Realities: Experiments and methods, observations and interventions / part 2

Introductory course to Science and Technology Studies and investigations of it's relevance for transdisciplinary artistic research.

Opposite to science there is politics; opposite to nature we find culture; opposite to facts there remain values. As soon we ask ourselves how artistic and scientific reasearch could mix in different and perplexing ways it seems to be reasonable to postpone this segregating perspective on the world by using the aforementioned terms not as starting points for our investigations but rather as endpoints of developments and concrete practices of realities that have been mobilized within or outside the laboratory where this segregation in general does not play an important role.
By means of various findings of Science and Technology Studies and with the help of the students this course aims at exploring and describing ongoing and historical scientific methods, experiments, and observations. Furthermore the so called actors-network-theory will be discussed and repurposed as a method to develop scenarios of artistic work at the interface of the sciences and the arts.
