Students develop their interests, positions and priorities in painting and/or animation film. Attention is paid not only on how to paint but on what to paint.

Solo critiques, group critiques, presentations by visiting international artists, and visits to galleries and museums in both Vienna and NYC, are an important part of developing a critical response to contemporary issues in painting.

Visual work and written texts are developed simultaneously.Students learn to articulate their positions by reading texts, reviews and interviews and by writing about the conceptual issues in their own work.
