Theme:
The Alphabet of Life

The Alphabet of Life is comprised of 26 Life Principles. It offers guidance for the design process where creative minds meet scientific rigor in order to create solutions that lead to sustainable innovation and design.

„Life’s Principles are design lessons from nature. Based on the recognition that Life on Earth is interconnected and interdependent, and subject to the same set of operating conditions, Life has evolved a set of strategies that have sustained over 3.8 billion years. Life’s Principles represent these overarching patterns found amongst the species surviving and thriving on Earth. Life integrates and optimizes these strategies to create conditions conducive to life. By learning from these deep design lessons, we can model innovative strategies, measure our designs against these sustainable benchmarks, and allow ourselves to be mentored by nature’s genius using Life’s Principles as our aspirational ideals.“

Objective:
Creation and design of a MANIFESTO for the ALPHABET OF LIFE.
Phase 1: Research of the 26 Life Principles
Phase 2: Design for the Life Principles
Phase 3: Promotion and publishing of the Alphabet of Life: website, poster, infozine/manual, etc.
It‘s a team project, where each individual member of the team elaborates one or more Life Principles. The creation of the MANIFESTO will be the combination of all Life Principles.

Der Erfolg der Arbeiten wird nach folgenden Kriterien bewertet:

Erfolgsschlüssel:
Für die positive Bewertung einer Kategorie wird 1 Punkt vergeben.
7/6 Punkte = sehr gut
4/5 Punkte = gut
3 Punkte = befriedigend
2 Punkte = genügend
1/0 Punkt = nicht genügend

Comments

Die Lehrveranstaltung findet in Kooperation mit der Klasse für Grafik Design statt.
Sie ist ein Modul innerhalb des Themenkomplexes "Alphabet of Life". Ein weiteres Modul ist die Lehrveranstaltung "Experimentelles Entwerfen und gestalten in themenbezogener Projektarbeit". Beide LV's unabhängig voneinander besucht und erfolgreich abgeschlossen werden.
