Description
This course focuses on typography in the field of visual arts and on typographic design of art-related publictions, artist books and documentations. According to the participants' varying levels, the course willl include therory and computer-work as well as self-organised research and development of a project from start to finish (a booklet, an artist book, an artwork or a documentation). Topics are: DTP basics (Adobe Indesign, a little bit of Photoshop and Illustrator) on MAC OS, handling digital fonts, layout basics, dos & don'ts in professional print production, examples of typography in contemporary art. Location: Transmediale Kunst, Vordere Zollamtstraße 3, room 14 (3rd floor)
Examination Modalities
regular attendance
project work (completion and presentation on time, one copy or three digital photographs of your work for the archive)

This class may be held in English if 20 % of participants prefer English as their study language.
